Highlights

The Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Radioactivity (CARER) was established by the Mangalore University through the financial support from the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, and technical support from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). The centre is engaged in frontline research on radioecology and environmental radioactivity in collaboration with BRNS, BARC, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) and many other institutions of India and other countries.

The highlights of the centre are:

  1. Accredited by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB),
  2. Infrastructure facility of international standard,
  3. MoUs with BRNS, BARC, and NPCIL ,
  4. Capability to measure radionuclides of interest in the entire nuclear fuel cycle,
  5. Collaboration with national and international laboratories,
  6. 82 publications in international journals,
  7. 8 major research projects on radioecology – total funding received ~ Rs. 7.5 crore,
  8. Consultancy projects generated Rs.1.2 crores, and
  9. Users from many institutions of the country.
